iPod and Home Entertainment System

Over the last years iPods became very popular. It's pretty easy to start using it. You can download your favorite music's from a desktop computer into the iPod and enjoy it. iPod's compact size and a variety of song choices are great for the people needing portability. You can use it while making exercises, walking or waiting in queues.

However, your iPod can be used in a different manner. Let's say you are planning to have a party. You can prepare a song mix and download it to your iPod and play it on your home stereo system. Yes, it is possible. You just need a dock and some cables. To connect your iPod to your home stereo system you have to use the headphone jack. Plus you need a 3.5mm RCA adapter cable (standard headphone jack), which can be purchased at a local electronics store like Radio Shack. After that you are able to connect your iPod to the amplifier. But be cautious; set your iPod's volume below the half way point, otherwise your stereo's amplifier speakers can blow. Instead, use your stereo system to adjust the volume.

What is universal docking? Like a universal remote, it works with different electronic devices. You can connect your iPod to a computer using universal dock. When you purchased your iPod there should be a cable with it. It allows charging and syncing your iPod. You can also use your dock to charge the battery using a Power Adapter, and even connect it to a stereo or speakers with an iPod AV cable. And, if you iPod has a color display or video capabilities, then it's possible to connect it to your TV set and watch videos or view photos. You just need a S-video cable or AV cable.

In addition you can connect your iPod to a car stereo system. You just need the auxiliary input on your car's stereo. But if it hasn't an input jack then it is possible to use a cassette adapter.

So, along with the ability to store your favorite tunes, iPod may be considered as an improved Walkman, since it has more useful functions that you can utilize.
